The Value of Reservoir Modelling & Simulation Skills and the Industry Relevance of RFD’s tNavigator
On 5 February 2026, PetroSkill Virtual Learning (PVL) hosted a technical seminar bringing together industry experts and aspiring petroleum engineers to explore the importance of reservoir modelling and simulation skills in the oil and gas industry. The seminar was chaired by Dr. Vasilii Shelkov, PhD, Co-Founder and CEO of Rock Flow Dynamics (RFD), who delivered a technical presentation on fully coupled geomechanics, featuring a live simulation demonstration using the SPE10 model. The event also featured insightful presentations from industry professionals: Ankit Singh, Reservoir Engineer: Practical insights into reservoir modelling, forecasting, and development planning. Amr Labib, Assistant General Manager, Reservoir Development & Reserves Evaluation, Abu Qir Petroleum, Egypt: Industry perspectives on reservoir development and reserves evaluation. Mohamed Taher: An exploration of why tNavigator is widely used in the industry. Robert Moukhametov: Guidance on what students should focus on when learning simulation tools. The seminar emphasized the importance of bridging theoretical knowledge with practical simulation skills, exposing participants to industry-standard technologies and real-world engineering applications. At PVL, we remain committed to equipping students and young professionals with industry-relevant knowledge and practical competencies through expert-led sessions and simulation-based learning.
